A Romantic Summer Wedding in Prairie Village, Kansas: First Look Tears, Meadowbrook Park Portraits & A Legacy of Love
Poemas Photo + Video | Kansas City Wedding Photographer & Videographer
There’s something timeless about a church wedding in Prairie Village, Kansas — but Bria and Jonathan’s day was anything but ordinary. From the passing down of a treasured family Bible to joyful tears during a heartfelt prayer, this summer wedding was filled with deep meaning, vibrant laughter, and unforgettable memories. And we at Poemas Photo + Video were honored to capture it all through photography and videography.

A Prairie Village Wedding Steeped in Family Tradition
The couple exchanged vows in a classic church in Prairie Village, KS, surrounded by the people who love them most. It was a hot summer day with blue skies stretching above — the kind of light that makes every photo glow. But even more beautiful than the light were the emotions of the day.
One of the most touching moments came when the bride’s father gathered the couple and prayed over them. Not a dry eye in the room — us included. It was a powerful, spiritual moment that set the tone for the rest of the day: joyful, intentional, and full of love.
A First Look Full of Emotion
Before the ceremony, the couple shared a quiet first look — a moment just for them before the whirlwind of the day truly began. With summer sun pouring through the trees, they laughed, hugged, and held hands in a way that reminded us why we do what we do. Capturing the way they looked at each other — it’s the kind of moment that translates so beautifully in both photo and film.

Meadowbrook Park Bridal Party Portraits
For portraits, we headed to the always-stunning Meadowbrook Park in Prairie Village. It’s one of our favorite locations for Kansas City wedding photos — with its elegant walking trails, wide open skies, and timeless greenery, it’s a perfect backdrop for wedding photography.
The bridesmaids in rust and groomsmen in navy looked incredible against the vibrant park landscape. Sunflower bouquets with white florals, greenery, and touches of blue thistle brought in that joyful, summery vibe, while playful ribbons added the perfect finishing touch. We captured everything from editorial-style group portraits to candid in-between laughs — exactly the mix we love.
